Frances Crawford
painter
Frances Crawford's paintings are symbolic representations of ideas. Her paintings are about an "inner life", the unseen world of the mind. Some of the images used relate to the tradition of alchemy. Colour is important in her paintings. She builds successive layers of transparent glazes of oil paint and glazing medium, which results in paintings with more depth and vibrancy of colour.
