Illona Morrice sculptress medium stoneware
Illona was born in Denmark. Her mother
was a potter and her father a painter. She grew up in a workshop
with clay in one hand and a brush in the other.
Upon leaving college she opened her own
Gallery/ Studio in Copenhagen.
Since moving to Scotland she has
exhibited in galleries and public exhibitions in many parts of the
country.
Illona has had successful entries in the
Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh and the Aberdeen Artists Association
Exhibition in the Aberdeen Art Gallery.
She works mainly in clay as it is
particularly expressive and yet once fired quite permanent. She
occasionally works in wood, plaster, bronze and welded sheet metal. Her
particular love is to study people and to sketch them in clay.
