Sera James Irvine
ceramicist
Medium: clay
With a BA (Hons) in ceramics from
Cardiff, Sera has exhibited her work in many galleries across the UK.
Sera is particularly interested in the
impact of her work on it's surrounding environment.
'Questions arise in studying the way
that space behaves around an object.....
Does the piece appear larger or smaller
than it actually is; or does it appear lighter/heavier?'
The pieces are made using slabs of
clay, sometimes inlaid with other clays, which are manipulated and
joined together. Then a process of carving into the clay and / or
applying a series of slips( liquid clay coloured with oxides) is used
on some pieces.
